MVA students have outperformed students statewide in reading and math proficiency.
Story Behind the Evidence:
As an EL Education school, MVA students learn in a variety of settings; large group, small groups, and individually. Students understand the importance of having a growth mindset to discover new things and dive deep into their learning. When MVA students take standardized, universal screening, and benchmark tests, students set personal goals as a way to show that growth mindset demonstrating that our students truly show Responsibility for Learning, as described in EL’s design principle.

From 2013-2016, students at MVA outperformed the state proficiency all three years in the ELA Common Core Standards. For math, MVA students have outperformed the state proficiency in Common Core Standards for 2 of the 3 years. The format of the state test changed each of these three years; WKCE, Badger, and Forward, respectively. Lastly, the gap between MVA student proficiency and state proficiency increased significantly during this time demonstrating that our student proficiency in Math and ELA is increasing at a greater rate than statewide proficiency.
