MVA students develop an in-depth understanding of science content and apply key skills while living expeditions grounded in authentic study.
Story Behind the Evidence:
MVA students investigate relevant topics of study throughout expeditions. These expeditions are driven in content of science, social studies or both areas. Authenticity at MVA means that students are investigating, engaging, and experiencing real-world topics. In science-based expeditions, students are presented with evidence and participate in inquiry-based learning that develops a deep understanding of the world around them. These experiences teach students the importance of the design principles, The Natural World and The Having of Wonderful Ideas, so that they can make informed decisions about stewardship and be willing to ask the tough questions about what is going on in our world.
